Foursquare recently announced that they have made the Pilgrim SDK, the company’s proprietary location technology, available for select partners. To date, Pilgrim technology has been used within the Foursquare apps powering Foursquare City Guide, Foursquare Swarm and Foursquare Marsbot. By making the Pilgrim SDK available, marketers and app developers can derive accurate location intelligence from their audiences, understanding where app users go in the real-world. The Pilgrim SDK runs in the background and uses a variety of mobile signals including Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS and paired with the Foursquare Places database provide real-time accuracy at scale.
mParticle is excited to announce that app providers who are approved to use the Pilgrim SDK by Foursquare can now easily forward location-based event data such as “arrivals” or “departures” — as well as other associated attributes such as venue name, id, chain, category, confidence, etc… — from the Pilgrim SDK into mParticle through a seamless server-side integration.
Clients can configure the integration within Pilgrim by simply entering their mParticle credentials, and immediately begin streaming location data in real-time to enrich their existing first-party data. In addition, brands can seamlessly forward their enriched data to analytics platforms such as Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Amplitude, Mixpanel, and data warehouses like Redshift or BigQuery to derive additional insights, such as how geographic patterns of users relate to app installs, purchases and customer experience.
